Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s)

Hazrat Imam Hussain ibn Ali (a.s), known as Sayyid al-Shuhada (the Master of Martyrs), is the second son of Hazrat Imam Ali (a.s) and Sayyida Fatimah (s.a), and the third Imam. Born in Medina in 4 AH, he is an eternal symbol of supreme sacrifice, moral courage, and resistance against tyranny through the historic stand at the Battle of Karbala in 61 AH (680 CE). Through his surviving son, Hazrat Imam Ali Zain-ul-Abidin (a.s), the Hussaini Syed lineage continues across generations. His sacred shrine is located in Karbala al-Mu'alla, Iraq.
