Tracing the family tree of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) represents the cornerstone of Islamic genealogical science (Ilm al-Ansab). His direct patrilineal descent connects unbroken through forty-two generations back to Hazrat Ismail (a.s) and Hazrat Ibrahim (a.s) (Abraham), forming a sacred lineage celebrated across world history.

The classical Arab genealogical tradition universally corroborates his direct lineage through Adnan to Fahr (surnamed Quraysh), the progenitor of the Quraysh tribe. Generations later, Qusayy ibn Kilab unified the Quraysh clans in Mecca, establishing custodianship over the Holy Kaaba. His son Abd Manaf fathered Hashim (Amr), the revered patriarch from whom the illustrious Banu Hashim clan derives its noble name.

Hashim's son, Abdul Muttalib (Shaybah al-Hamd), grandfather of the Holy Prophet, rediscovered the sacred Well of Zamzam and fathered prominent historical figures including Abdullah (the Prophet's father), Abu Talib, Hazrat Hamza (r.a), Hazrat Abbas (r.a), and Zubair. Abdullah married Syeda Aminah bint Wahb of the Banu Zuhrah clan, giving birth to the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) in the Year of the Elephant (570 CE).

The Prophet's blessed household included his beloved first wife, Umm al-Momineen Syeda Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (s.a), and their children: sons Al-Qasim and Abdullah (Tayyib/Tahir), and daughters Syeda Zainab, Syeda Ruqayyah, Syeda Umm Kulthum, and the leader of the women of Paradise, Syeda Fatima al-Zahra (s.a). Through the divine union of Syeda Fatima Zahra (s.a) and Ameer-Ul-Momineen Hazrat Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s), the continuing biological and spiritual lineage of the Prophet was preserved through the Holy Ahl al-Bayt.

This sacred fountainhead branched through Hazrat Imam Hasan (a.s) and Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s), producing the venerable Hasani and Husayni Sadaat lineages across the Islamic world. On Shajjra.com, this unbroken patrilineal chain is digitized from Generation 1 (Hazrat Imam Ali a.s) across forty-five documented generations, linking the historical settlements of Medina, Iraq, and Persia directly into the Indus Valley of Sindh and Punjab.
