1. Archival Scope & Purpose
Shajjra.com operates as a non-commercial cultural and historical family archive dedicated to preserving Islamic and Syed genealogical records across 45 generations. The information stored within this platform is compiled for historical documentation, family identity preservation, and academic genealogy research.
2. Categories of Information Maintained
Our database exclusively maintains customary genealogical lineage data necessary to trace direct descent:
- Lineage Identifiers: Given names, honorific titles, surnames, and traditional nicknames.
- Familial Connections: Relationships including biological parents (father and mother), spouses, and children.
- Vital Statistics: Year of birth, year of passing, and designated cemetery or resting-place locations.
- Historical Biographies: Biographical notes, scholarly contributions, and resting place descriptions for notable historical ancestors.
- Photographs: Archival portraits and family-submitted headshots where explicitly provided by descendants.
We explicitly do not collect or publish government identity numbers, banking or financial records, personal telephone numbers, private residential street addresses, or sensitive health data.
3. Protection of Living Family Members
We respect the privacy of living family members. While historical records (individuals deceased for over several decades) represent public genealogical heritage, living family members have full autonomy over their personal representation within the archive.
If you are a living member listed in the archive and wish to restrict your record (such as concealing birth year, removing photographs, or replacing a full name with initials), you are entitled to request immediate redaction.
4. Correction, Update & Redaction Rights
Genealogy is a collaborative and evolving discipline. We welcome updates and corrections to ensure total factual accuracy:
- Correction Requests: If an entry contains a typographical error, wrong parental linkage, or inaccurate date, contact us with supporting evidence for immediate revision.
- Redaction / Removal: Any individual may submit a verified request to redact their personal profile or that of an immediate dependent child.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Shajjra.com values user privacy and operates with minimal tracking:
- Essential Session Cookies: We utilize encrypted First-Party HTTP session cookies solely to maintain authentication for registered administrators and preserve your language or dark-mode theme preferences.
- Zero Third-Party Advertising: We do not deploy third-party advertising cookies, behavioral retargeting pixels, or programmatic tracking scripts.
6. Infrastructure Security & Data Integrity
The Shajjra platform is hosted within a hardened cloud environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS EC2). All transmissions are encrypted in transit via Transport Layer Security (HTTPS with TLS 1.3 / HSTS). Relational databases are backed up continuously with automated cryptographic snapshots to prevent catastrophic data loss or unauthorized tampering.
7. Policy Updates
We may periodically revise this Privacy Policy to reflect technical updates or legal standards. Any modifications will be posted directly to this URL with an updated effective date.
